About me

My name is Jiacheng Liu (pronounced like this), and I am a transnational queer media and cultural studies scholar. My research examines: (a) the transnational circulation of queer of color culture (e.g., Ballroom culture) in/across Asia, (b) the mutual shaping of queer politics and digital media (e.g., dating apps) in China, and (c) intersectionality and activisms in China and the Asian diaspora.

Currently, I am a dual-title Ph.D. candidate in  Mass Communications and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at the Pennsylvania State University. My previous works use qualitative and ethnographic methods to investigate LGBTQ+ media production, gay digital dating, and Chinese digital feminism.

Feel free to reach out to me via email (liujc@psu.edu) and you can also find me on Google Scholar, Linkedin, Bluesky, and Twitter.
